The tide was rolling out,
As we walked down by the sea,
As if we were in close embrace,
Just Roger, Trent, and me.

But things were not as happy,
As at first they might have seemed,
For to have just Roger, by himself,
Was what Trent and I both dreamed,

When Roger stopped to sunbake,
Trent and I continued to walk,
I thought it would be the perfect time,
For Trent and I to talk.

But as we passed from Roger's sight,
Trent's motives became clear to me,
When he pushed me into the water,
And held my head beneath the sea.

"Jealously is a curse," he laughed,
Holding my face beneath the brine,
"But this is the price you have to pay,
For Roger to be all mine!"

Trent watched my body, floating away,
And murmured in quiet refrain,
"I'll freely admit two is company,
But three really can be a pain ..."
